Poco a poco (Little by Little)

Things I've taken for granted...
Ice cubes
Drinking tap water
Putting tp in the toilet
Portioning my own food
Cheese, oh how I miss cheese!!!!!
I eat rice for 2/3 of my meals so I'd really love some Siracha
Washer/dryer, I handwashed my clothes today, it sucked but somehow it was a little therapeutic as well so it's a catch 22.
Going anywhere without permission (well since the age of 18 anyway)
Drinking beer whenever I want
Carrying my camera on me whenever I want to take pictures (not really safe to have a camera out in some places)
Having a normal alarm like a radio, not a rooster
Despite all this I'm really glad that I'm here even if I miss these things (and people from home) I'm dedicated  and I knew there would be sacrifices involved in order to do this.

A week of training has gone by but I feel like I've already been here for months! It's been quite the emotional roller-coaster. Conner and I talked last night, it was not a fun conversation, I had an emotional break down but I think what we are doing is for the best. He is my best friend and I hope it stays that way, if it's meant to be then we will get back together.
On the plus side, I love my host family! They are so helpful and caring, they tell me that my Spanish is getting better already.  Also my host mother cooks really well and she isn't offended when I don't like something. Training seems to be going well so far, I have a clearer idea of what is expected of me during my service, it all seems a little daunting like can I really do this? but at the same time I'm excited. Next week I'm going to be facilitating a 45 minute session with 2 other people at a local school!!! I'm nervous but it'll be nice to get that learning experience.
Tomorrow is el dia de padre (father's day) we are visiting family in Vivarte, hopefully that will be a fun day :)

I'm soooo glad I brought my Friends DVDs, I've been watching it every night and started watching it with Spanish subtitles so I'm being productive too! I really hope I have electricity at my site because watching Friends has really made me feel better, which may sound lame but I don't care, it helps. If I don't have electricity at my site, I'll live but it's been nice for this first week of adjustment.

I just want to thank all of my friends who actually read this, it helps knowing there are people who are supporting me and want to know what's going on in my life. Lots of love from Peru!!!!
